Sony Ericsson announce their 1st HSDPA phone

The new Z750 phone supports HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) which can support download data of speeds of 1.8 Mbit/s, 3.6 Mbit/s, 7.2 Mbit/s and 14.4 Mbit/s.

This of course depends on to what extent the phone networks are implementing the technology and if it's anything like 3G then there's work to be done.

Incidentally, 14.4 Mbit/s is sufficient for decent quality HDTV broadcasting. But what's the point in having HDTV on a little screen? - Well you'd pass the streaming data out to a compatible television through output cables or maybe in the future through mini projectors. So we could be looking at always-on streaming TV receivers in the form of a phone in the not to distant future.
